Car launches and upgrades in February - Autos - Cars

<p>It's just the second month of the New Year and already there have been a number of car launches and upgrades. So far cars Audi A8, Maruti Suzuki Kizashi and Tata Manza Elan have made it to the Indian market. Maruti SX4 diesel and Chevrolet Beat with SMARTECH are all set to join the list. Let's take a look at all these beauties: </p>



<p>Maruti SX4 Diesel - The company sold 2159 units of SX4 in January and with the addition of the diesel version the company plans to up this figure. The diesel SX4 is going to be powered by Fiat's 90bhp, 1.3 Multi-jet diesel engine that powers Dzire, Linea and Indigo Manza. The engine comes with Variable Geometry Turbo (VGT) technology. The current Maruti SX4 comes with a new generation K series BS IV compliant petrol engine priced between Rs 6.68 - Rs 8.35 lakh. </p>



<p>Chevrolet Beat SMARTECH - General Motors is all set to launch the new Beat powered by the recently launched 1.2-litre SMARTECH engine this month. The new engine has been developed locally by the GM Technical Centre-India in Bangalore in co-operation with GM's new engine plant in Talegaon. It will power the funky looking Chevrolet Beat and will soon be joined by the car's diesel version by the end of this year. The petrol Beat is powered by a 1.2L, 1199cc, 16-Valve DOHC, STEC II engine with five speed manual transmission gearbox. Beat offers a mileage of 14.5kmpl in city and 18.6kmpl on highway. The car is priced between Rs 3,55,000 - Rs 4,66,324 (ex-showroom, New Delhi). The company sold 3338 units in January.</p>



<p>Tata Manza and Manza Elan - Tata Motors has given the Manza a facelift and refreshed both the interiors and exteriors. Under the hood the Manza houses the 90PS Safire petrol and Quadrajet diesel engines while in the interior section the Manza gets very good cabin space. It comes loaded with security features like ABS, airbags, multistage drive away auto locking, rear demister, collapsible steering, energy absorbing steering wheel, door intrusion beam et al. The car's top end variant is rechristened as the Tata Manza Elan and has added features like dual tone alloy wheels, burgundy and beige interiors, chrome garnished bottom weather strip, fog lamps etc. The Safire petrol range is priced at Rs.5.14 lakh and the Quadrajet diesel range comes for Rs. 5.91 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). The car will be in showrooms from February 7, 2011.</p>



<p>Maruti Kizashi - The company has forayed into the premium segment with the Kizashi which is equipped with the engine found in the Grand Vitara. The 16-valve VVT DOHC inline-four displaces 2393cc to develop 176 bhp at 6000 rpm and 23 kgm of torque at 4000 rpm. It comes with a six-speed manual gearbox and an optional CVT. This kind of power output puts the car straight in the league of the Accord 2.4 and Camry. The car has a good engine, which compensates for its high kerb weight. The car is priced between Rs 16,50,000 - Rs 17,50,000 (ex-showroom, New Delhi).</p>
