Best new cars to come out of developing countries - Autos

Auto companies based in developing countries have increased their vehicle output in recent years. Whilst you might not be familiar with some of the makes and models yet, perhaps over the coming years they will gain in prominence. Of course, not all of them have been entirely successful, but there are a few that have been particularly well received. The Maruti Alto, for instance, is India's best-selling car and is extremely popular with the Indian middle class due to its price, fuel economy and reliability. Another reason for its success is that it is easy to drive on congested Indian roads and the compact car also takes less space to park due to its size. Alto has maintained its popular position in India despite the launch of new small cars by other global competitors in the Indian market. Also popular in India is the Kizashi, Marutis first offering at the upper end of the Indian car market. The car is a distinct combination of luxury, style and sporty performance, boastin
g a powerful engine, a sleek design and exclusive interiors. Then theres the Chery QQ3, which may be fairly basic by some standards, but is very fashionable in China. As a city car, the benefits of the 0.8 or 1.1 litre engines are plentiful when you are regularly stuck in traffic. If, and when, Chinese cars arrive here in Australia, this model will probably be among the first, although whether it will catch on outside of the city remains to be seen. However, another Chinese manufacturer rising in prominence is Geely, with the Geely Emgrand GT being a particularly popular model. The GT is a radical-looking vehicle, almost looking like a combination of a Pontiac Solstice and an Alfa Romeo 8C, with the finished result looking much more appealing than it sounds. Geelys GE limousine first made international headlines for supposedly being a clone of a Rolls-Royce Phantom, but a closer look at this car shows that it is a different kind of luxury transportation, with supreme power an
d handling abilities. The Mastretta MXT is the first high performance sport automobile produced by the Mexican car maker, Mastretta, and is notable for being both completely produced and designed in Mexico. In fact, it is the first fully Mexican made sports car. The MXT is a mid-size sports car and its production officially began in January 2011. It features a Ford Duratec 2.0-litre engine that has been turbocharged, 0-100km/h times of 5.9 seconds and a top speed of 230km/h.It remains to be seen whether these particular cars will catch-on outside of their national markets, however if they do, a little variety on the roads might certainly be a refreshing change. Some of the cars coming out of developing countries are just as appealing and high-performance as those produced by more traditional manufacturers, so dont be surprised if you find yourself comparing the fuel economy of a Geely with that of a Toyota, or if windshield replacement prices differ between a Mastretta and a
Holden.Isla Campbell writes for a digital marketing agency. This article has been commissioned by a client. This article is not designed to promote, but should be considered professional content.
